Press Release: Greg Reed Says Republican Handshake with Alabama Long Overdue

JASPER, Alabama (August 16, 2010) – Republican state senate candidate Greg Reed today said the 2010 Republican Handshake with Alabama, an agenda the state Republican House and Senate Caucuses are promoting if Republicans reach a majority in both or either Houses of the Alabama Legislature in 2010, is an idea whose time has come.

The 2010 Republican Handshake with Alabama focuses on improving the economy through job creation, enacting tougher immigration laws, tightening ethics laws for public officials, controlling state spending and keeping the federal government from infringing the rights of Alabama citizens.

“The Republican Handshake with Alabama is long overdue, and I appreciate the hard work of Senator Jabo Waggoner and Representative Mike Hubbard in crafting it. Promoting an agenda that is designed to improve the economic and job climate, give real meaning to our ethics laws, control state spending, address illegal immigration, and reel in Washington’s intrusion into state matters is commendable,” said Greg Reed.

“Once voters realize that liberals have been in control of both the state house and senate for 136 years, they will react at the ballot box this November by electing true conservatives with vision and conviction. I’d be honored to be one of them,” Mr. Reed added.

Senate District 5 is comprised of all of Walker and parts of Tuscaloosa, Winston and Jefferson Counties.

Greg and his wife, the former Mitsy Harbison, are natives of Cordova, Alabama. They have been married for 22 years and have three sons. Their sons Andrew and James are 16-year-old twins, and John Michael is 14 years old. The Reed boys attend Jasper City Schools in the 10th and 8th grades. Mr. Reed has worked in the medical equipment industry since 1991. He has been for the past six years Vice President of Preferred Medical Systems. Preferred Medical is a representative of diagnostic medical ultrasound systems in six states for General Electric Healthcare.
