(JASPER, Alabama) - The Walker County Political Accountability Coalition released its endorsements recently for the June 1, primary. Among those endorsed by the group was Jasper businessman Greg Reed, a Republican candidate for Alabama State Senate District 5. The Walker County Political Accountability Coalition invited all candidates, Republican and Democrat, to be interviewed by the group last week. The group interviewed a total of 16 candidates.

"We invited anyone running for a local office to be interviewed," said Bucky Rizzo, the chairman of the board of directors for the WCPAC.

"We thought everyone interviewed were good people, but we had to narrow it down to who we thought best represented the people of Walker County."

Rizzo said the group wanted to pick the best, electable candidate.

"Picking the best candidate was the ultimate goal, but we had one race that we felt was so close that we went to our second criteria of who had the best chance to win," he said.

"Being recognized by a local group which is made up of active citizens in our community is a great honor," commented Reed on learning of the endorsement. "This endorsement is just another example that my message of sending someone with integrity to Montgomery, who will be accountable to the people of the District 5, is resonating with voters."
